What is remote (off campus) access?

Members of the QCC community who have a valid QCC ID card with a barcode from the Alden Library may access licensed resources from any Internet-connected computer off campus.  These databases are free to QCC community members and are available 24/7.

Who is eligible for remote (off campus) access?

Currently registered students and currently employed faculty and staff are eligible to use remote access.   Users must validate that they are a QCC student, faculty or staff member in order to have access to these resources that are restricted to the QCC community.  

How do I get a barcode for remote (off campus) access?

In order to use these databases and resources from off-campus locations, you must have an Alden Library barcode placed on your QCC ID card.   Your Library-assigned barcode number will become your password for access to the databases.

Students: QCC registration does not automatically enter you into our library database. You will need to stop by the Circulation desk to be entered into our library database and receive a library barcode.  You may need to renew your  library barcode at the Circulation Desk each semester that you are a registered student to continue to access the databases from off campus.

Faculty and staff:  you will need to stop by the Circulation desk if you have not registered recently.  You may need to renew your  library barcode at the Circulation Desk each semester as long as you are an  employee of the college to continue to access the databases from off campus.

No barcodes will be issued over the phone.  You will want to take a few extra minutes and let the library staff show you how to access and use the databases.  Please call (508)854-4581 with questions.
 

How do I access the databases?

You will need to enter your QCC library barcode (library card #) and last name in the boxes above.  If you experience any difficulty connecting to these databases, please contact the Reference Desk at (508) 854- 4366.  If you get a message that your barcode is invalid, try again.  If you get the message again, your barcode may have expired.  Stop by the Circulation Desk in the Library with proof that you are a current student (validation sticker on your ID, paid term bill or class schedule), faculty, or staff member and library staff will be happy to update your record.
